Our 1st Annual Breaking Down Barriers Luncheon provided an opportunity to share the mission and initiatives of our organization, as well as shed light on the mental health issues surrounding our community. Our goal was also to raise funds and expand our partnership network in order to better serve our vulnerable populations who need mental health services but face various cultural and financial obstacles to quality care.
Thanks to our community partners, our invaluable guests, and distinguished speaker, our goals were met! More than 64 individuals representing over ten local businesses and mental health organizations were in attendance. Among the organizations represented were Southeast Psych, Eastover Psychological & Psychiatric Group, Atrium Health, Care Ring, C4 Counseling, Bareiter Counseling Center, L&B Counseling, and Changed Choices, and others. Since its inception in 2015, Psychology For All has been increasing the access to mental health services and information by providing financial assistance and help to those unable to afford mental health care, and by creating and distributing up-to-date mental health information to the public. As we see the growing mental health crisis in our community, we pledge to continue dedicating our efforts to help meet the individual needs of our underserved adult population by connecting them to vetted licensed mental health professionals, educating our community on mental health issues and increasing mental health awareness in order to advocate for overall emotional and psychological well-being. The incredible outcome of our luncheon was not only evident by the number of organizations joining this powerful conversation but by the amount of funds raised. The generous contributions will go towards covering the cost of mental health services for adults who currently face financial and cultural barriers that prevent their access to mental health services. All proceeds will go to support the PFA mission of removing these common challenges and make a long-lasting, positive impact at the individual, family, and community level. Our special thanks go to our talented and moving speaker, Victor Armstrong (Atrium Behavioral Health) for such an outstanding presentation, to Moore & Van Allen PLLC and Essex Richards, P.A. for being our noble co-sponsors, and to all our charitable guests who decided to make a difference wholeheartedly. We thank you all for your support, for your generous donations, and for making this year’s Breaking Down Barriers Luncheon a success! We could not have done this without you and we look forward to seeing you next year.
