National Suicide Prevention Talk-line – 1-800-273-TALK(8255) – This 24 hour talk-line connects you to a trained crisis worker.

Anxiety and Depression Association for America​
​This national organization educates, trains, and does research on anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders. They also link people who need treatment with professionals who provide it.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance
This national organization provides education, tools, support groups and information for families affected by mood disorders.

Mental Health Americas of Central Carolinas
This organization offers various resources, including education, advocacy, and support, for mental health related concerns.

National Alliance of Mental Illness
NAMI provides up to date information on mental health concerns and offers helpful resources for individuals and families.

National Institute of Mental Health
This national organization has information on mental health and the latest research in the field.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
SAMHSA provides information and connections to resources related to substance abuse and mental health.

This website offers resources for general mental health, depression and suicidal intentions, non-suicidal self-injury, support groups, and more.

The NC Department of Health and Human Services
The NC DHHS manages the delivery of health- and human-related services for all North Carolinians, especially our most vulnerable citizens – children, elderly, disabled, and low-income families. The Department works closely with health care professionals, community leaders and advocacy groups; local, state, and federal entities; and many other stakeholders to make this happen.

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Hotline

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare has a 24-hour crisis and referral call center. They can connect clients with Medicaid and NC Healthchoice to providers in the area.

Greater Charlotte Hope Line

This 24-hour free and confidential resource is a lifeline for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors as well as parents in need of support in Mecklenburg County.

Mobile Crisis Team - Mecklenburg County

Mobile Crisis Team provides residents of Mecklenburg County who are experiencing a mental health crisis assistance and access to community resources. The team is dispatched to provide emergency psychiatric assessment, immediate intervention for family crises, and assistance to the hospital or other appropriate psychiatric care.

Local Resources
AlcoholTreatment.Net - ​Charlotte
This is national organization that connects individuals who are seeking alcohol treatment recovery services to the resources they need. They help 24 hours a day through their toll-free and confidential line: 1-800-247-9938.
Their website features over 20 Charlotte-based treatment organizations and enters.

Atrium Behavioral Health
They offer comprehensive, integrated system of inpatient, outpatient, school-based, crisis and residential treatment programs in our region.  

Brave Step
This is a local non-profit organization that provides resources for adult men 
and women who have been impacted by sexual abuse.

Mecklenburg Psychological Association
This is an unaffiliated group of psychologists with expertise in psychological therapy and testing. Their website has a directory of psychologists in the Charlotte area.

Med Link
This is a list of free and low-cost clinics in Mecklenburg County.


Mental Health Americas of Central Carolinas
This organization offers various resources, including counseling, education, advocacy, and support for mental health related concerns.

NAMI - Charlotte
This local group that is part of the National Alliance on Mental Illness

(NAMI) provides support and resources for individuals with mental health concerns and for their loved ones.

Novant Behavioral Health
Novant’s behavioral health specialists can help address your mental health concerns. They are available 24 hours a day and provide care for children, adolescents and adults.

​C.W. Community Health Center
They offer individual, group, and family counseling as well as a number of other health services to all community members. Fees for services are based on an income scale.

Presby Psych
Provides mental health services to individuals, couples, and families, regardless of their religious affiliation. In addition to offering sliding scales based on income, they also partner with therapist interns to offer even more affordable options.

Charlotte Community Health Clinic
Trauma-informed counseling, addiction counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, and medication-assisted treatment are available. A sliding scale is available for those without insurance.

Camino Health Center
Provides holistic health care to those who are underinsured and uninsured in a bilingual and multicultural setting. The center provides individual and group therapy, peer support, and social navigation services. The fee structure is a sliding scale.

Anuvia Detox Center
This program offers a 24/7/365 safe space for individuals ages 18 and over to withdraw from alcohol and drugs without needing to go to a hospital.​

Steve Smith’s Behavioral Health Urgent Care
The Behavioral Health Urgent Care center provides intervention and treatment for community members with urgent behavioral health needs. Individuals can receive triage, care, and referral.​

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
This national organization’s mission is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. They have resources for those who are struggling with suicidal thoughts, for those concerned about a loved one, and for those who have experienced a loss to suicide.

American Psychological Association 
This national organization has information on various psychological topics and information on how to find a therapist in your local area.

Database that includes clinics that offer medical services (some may also offer dental, mental health, or Substance Addiction services) and are free, low-cost, low-cost with a sliding scale based on income, or offer some type of financial assistance.

Allows clients to find treatment centers by zip code. 

Anxiety and Depression Association of America
This organization focuses on educating medical professionals, individuals suffering from anxiety or depression, and their family members about the symptoms and treatment options for the illnesses. Allows users to find a local therapist.
